Artist: Charlie King

Charlie King is one of the greats. Oddly enough, he's one of the lesser known greats. I had never heard of him until he played at Knox College in the Gizmo. Thereafter, I learned that he has written songs that have been performed by Arlo Guthrie, Holly Near, and Pete Seeger. My theory is that he missed out on becoming one of the most famous folkies because he got started in 1971, just when all the hippies were reevaluating their lives and deciding to disco dance and go to business school. But I wasn't there, so what do I know?

Well, not much, but I do know that I love his CD Inside Out, especially the songs "The Place They Found For Michael" and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell". If you're looking for some rousing protest songs that fit the current day, not leftover Sixties causes, Charlie King is one of the folks you should check out.

He doesn't seem to have a website (Anyone feeling authoritiative?), but I found an article about him at Dirty Linen.
