Artist: disappear fear
disappear fear is one of those bands that you hear about if you hang around with Indigo Girls fans. It was originally fronted by two sisters, Sonia Rutstein & Cindy Frank. However, I think Cindy left the group when her kid was born. I have their self-titled CD, on which both the Indigo Girls and Janis Ian sing, and I like the first two tracks the most. One is called "Washington Work Song", and is about how politicians mess up society and don't admit to it. A cool line:
My name is America, but I pronounced it George
The other track I am likely to play on the show is "Who's So Scared", which wraps a story about homophobia in between lines from Countee Cullen's poem "Incident", which is about racism.
You can find more about this bouncy-sounding yet pointedly political band at their web page.
