Artist: Joan Baez

Joan Baez, with the "achingly pure soprano" of her early career and the more mature, trained voice of today, is one of my favorite artists ever. Back when I was first getting into folk music, I found her autobiography, And A Voice To Sing With, in the public library. At that point I had heard little to nothing of her work. I have since reread the book three or four times. She's not only a great singer and songwriter, but a very interesting person to boot! I play a lot of Joan Baez on my show, much of it from her recent album Ring Them Bells. I also have many older albums, though.

Why not visit her official website? She seems to be actively involved in the site, unlike some artists who let their People do all the webweaving.
